Acessorizing: It's a Marathon, Not A Sprint

Transitioning from summer to fall can be a bit upsetting. The air gets a little nippier, the tan lines begin to fade. But some trends are able transition along with the drop in temperature - one of those being the trend of dressing up athletic wear.

Let's be honest, workout pants are always flattering. Sometimes the high waisted jeans or "going out" leggings can make us a little picky about our bodies. But throw on those lululemons and suddenly your butt looks perkier, the leg definition from Pilates seems to finally be visible, and you feel toned rather than tucked in. It's a weird but awesome effect.

This is not a suggestion to start throwing out those leather leggings and slim fit skinny jeans - they're still the major essential go-to's even when they make for not so desirable situations on a night out! But dressing up activewear can be fun for certain occasions. For example, spontaneous trips to the local dive bar, going out after a sports game, and quick weekend errands where you know you'll run into someone on the one day you felt like going makeup free. The key is to take the flattering aspects from your favorite lounge wear and mix that with some casual accessories. Be effortless and keep it a secret that those trendy pants are actually an Athleta purchase. Here are a few inspirations for the look:

Kate Beckinsale made sweatpants look timeless last year by pairing her slouchy white pants with matching heels and a chic, neatly styled ponytail.

Atelier Versace and Adidas - who knew?! After an elegant night at the Met, Gigi Hadid switched into a see through dress and sneakers for an after party. Might seem like an odd pairing but the sneakers do distract from the exposing style of the dress. Opting for Adidas rather than heals plays down the shock factor and gives a nod to downtown flair.

Stating the obvious, Rihanna has a super hot body. And this goes to show she can show it off without a sultry look. Or a deliberate sultry look. Even in her Manolos and sweats, Ri still oozes perfection.

Met Gala 2015

The Met Gala, also known as the Oscars for the fashion industry, always bring an interesting combination of looks. The ensembles vary from those who are simply aiming for notable glamour to others who come determined to fully embrace the theme (see: SJP, always). This year's theme was China: Through the Looking Glass. Per usual, some took on the challenge of finding a trendy, and appropriate look, while others dressed for the true Met Gala ambience.

Emma Roberts
At first, I wasn't really buying into the hype of Roberts' look. It felt a little flat for the theme until I realized how perfectly this Ralph Lauren dress achieved a subtle take on the night. The emerald green dress gives the actress a regal look while her clutch pays a cultural homage to the theme of the night.

Gigi Hadid
A little biased because I'm kind of obsessed with her but who isn't?! Gigi is bringing back what it means to be a bombshell supermodel. This Diane Von Furstenberg dress isn't super cohesive with the theme but it is gorgeous and defines the exclusiveness of attending the Met Gala.

Rosie Huntington - Whiteley
Hot! Leave it to Versace to provide the perfect cutout dress. Rosie shimmered in this gown, nailing the sophistication that should be included when one chooses to go sleek for the Met. I'm not usually a fan of a deep dark lip but this one was a fabulous counter balance.

Jennifer Lawrence
Since she was a co-chair this year, I love that Jennifer Lawrence managed to dress for the theme but also stay true to her more simplistic style. This Dior dress highlighted Jennifer's vigorous appeal while still acknowledging her role for the night. Also, that bun is perfect!

Jennifer Lopez
She is the original big booty so it makes sense that JLo would know how to properly show off those assets while still looking like the belle of the ball. Adding another Versace cutout to the night, this gown showcased how to be revealing without cheapening the look. And of course, JLo brought along her two favorite S's - sparkles and sultriness.

Kate Hudson
How cute is she? You've got something pretty special (and a bomb stylist) when you're able to nail the theme without any crazy antics or cultural appropriation (which let's be honest, was the biggest concern of the night). Hudson's gold Michael Kors dress and matching hair piece do a beautiful job of showing China's influence in fashion.

Rihanna
Slay RiRi! This Guo Pei look is everything you can wish for at a Met Gala. The color gives Rihanna the perfect glow and the design/length brings the obvious wowing factor. Not everyone can do this, and it would probably not be as exciting if they could, but it's risks like these that keep us talking. That and the mystery of what she's wearing underneath that big train!

Beyonce
QUEEN! We all know Beyonce can do no wrong but her fashionably late entrance with this Givenchy sheer dress was everything. Nudity was clearly the theme of the night and it was the queen of shock factor (aka Beyonce Gisele Knowles Carter) who did it best. With the gorgeous gems, that ***flawless high pony, and her fierce poses, Beyonce was the hottest piece of work in that museum last night - and she knew it.

2015 Oscars: Best Dressed

Trendy, trendy! This year's Oscars provided many fresh and modern looks to the red carpet, making it hard to narrow down who wore what best!

Zoe Saldana
Didn't she just pop out two kids? Because there's absolutely no sign of it. Zoe has always been the most fun red carpet fashionista (/slightly biased) and this pink Versace brought my admiration for her back in full force.

Sienna Miller
Love. Her. Sienna looked fabulous in this black classic Oscar de la Renta gown. If you're going to wear black to the Oscars, you need to take an extra step to make a statement and Sienna totally did by bringing the sophistication factor.

Rosamund Pike
FINALLY! To be honest, Rosamund has not been bringing it this award season with her fashion choices. But all is completely forgiven now because she saved her best look for the most important occasion. With this red Givenchy dress, Rosamund brought that British elegance that we all knew she had in her.

Marion Cotillard
Goddess! The white color and circular pattern gave a slight nostalgic nod to Cotillard's Oscar winning dress from 2008. However, Marion stayed true to her original style giving us something different to salivate over with this Dior gown's beautiful texture and draping in the back.

Jennifer Lopez
Oh hi there perfection. JLo looks timeless, no shock. While the makeup was a little off, her Elie Saab gown looked beautiful, providing another JLo photo op to put up on life inspiration boards.

Lupita Nyong'o
That back! That front! Those cut outs! Again, Lupita remains the queen of award season. This custom Calvin Klein pearl dress was the number one standout on the red carpet. The Academy should've presented Lupita with her Oscar again last night just so we could honor her fabulous-ness some more.

2014 Emmy's : Best Dressed

Sarah Hyland
The Modern Family actress got one last good use of the summer crop top style with this trendy yet elegant look. The coral Christian Siriano skirt was poofy enough for award season but playful enough to highlight Sarah's youth. On a totally bias note, loving the ombré pulled into the bun!

Lizzy Caplan
Oh Janis, if Regina George could see you now! Now THIS is how you wear a cutout, revealing dress in a classy (and safe!) way. Lizzy Caplan stunned in this DKNY Atelier gown. And that drop in the back - gorgeous gorgeous!

Sofia Vergara
Sure it's nothing crazy, but it's definitely different from Sofia's usual mermaid gowns. The white Roberto Cavalli with her blonde hair gives a sweet, angelic vibe!

Camila Alves
She might be there as a date but don't count Camila out as just some good arm candy. Matthew McConaughey's leading lady looked absolutely timeless in this abstract Zuhair Murad. Total knockout!

Gwen Stefani
God damn god damn GOD DAMN! Beautiful! I'm not a huge fan of the hair/makeup as it makes Gwen look almost unrecognizable but that outfit! The glitter, that cut, the fact that it's a two piece  - so classic. Versace, fierce as always.

Kerry Washington
What better way to mark the return of primetime TV than with Olivia Pope. Even through her pregnancy, Washington never shied away from fashion risks so it's no shocker her look was one of the more different looks of the night. The orange Prada with the blue glittery peek a boo in her slit was a gorgeous Emmys look. A little end of summer, a little fall fashion, and a whole lot of chic. Best Dressed - it's handled.

***Flawless

Like most people with good taste and appreciation for perfection, I love Beyonce. And after seeing her in concert again for the On the Run tour, I was even more convinced that she really can do no wrong. As always, Bey was on her A game and when I wasn't gasping for breath while trying to keep up with her choreography, I was fawning over her 1,000 wardrobe changes. With all that glitter and fabulousness, she's clearly the queen for a reason.

It's not a Beyonce concert without a little bodysuit action. With the nets and boots combo, this Atelier Versace gave Bey the perfect edgy vibe for her summer tour.

Another Atelier Versace costume, and my personal fav, Mrs. Carter stunned in this leotard as she rocked the stadium with ***flawless.

Denim on denim is probably the biggest no-no yet Beyonce's Diesel jumpsuit commanded attention in the most flattering way. Bonus points for hair flipping with such a dramatic headpiece!

The most fashion forward out of all the costumes, designer Michael Costello explained that the black lace Victorian looking outfit was inspired by Queen B's legendary hair. Honestly, isn't everything inspired by those gorgeous locks?

Best Dressed: Oscars 2014

The 2014 Oscars displayed a range of trends consisting of pastels, capes, and even one daring actress who shut it down in black. The ladies absolutely brought it this year. And when Jared Leto is looking like an absolute smoke with that flowing ombre, they definitely had to work overtime to bring the prettiness.

Cate Blanchett
The Blue Jasmine actress shimmered in this Armani gown which must've looked amazing in person with all of those jewels! The coloring was perfect for Cate's light complexion and usual posh appearance. Those intricate designs totally fit the royalty/Oscar winner (same thing right?) look.

Charlize Theron
It's rare that any women dares to sport such a simple color like black. After all, the Oscars are a time for diamonds and trains, not the risk of being forgettable. So when Charlize strutted down the carpet in this sophisticated Dior dress, it was a game changer. Not a huge fan of the clear straps, but the combination of that neckline, necklace, and sheer bottom makes up for it. Now if she would just dispose the awful accessory that is Sean Penn, that'd be great.

Lupita Nyong'o
Ah Lupita! Easily the best fashionista to come out of this past award season. She's worn nearly every color to these shows and nailed all of them. I wasn't sure how she was going to top her teal Gucci gown from the SAGs, but she definitely came close with this light blue Prada dress. Lupita took her big moment to shine with the go to princess dress and even added the classic headband to perfect her look. Timeless!

Jennifer Lawrence
Back in the day, long before her contract with Dior, JLaw used to shut it down on the red carpet with her fresh looks. Lawrence sure has changed from then, maturing with more classical looks, but it's nice to see a nod to her past styling. Major props to her stylist for doing a throwback with this red Dior gown to her first Oscar moment in a memorable, and similar, red Calvin Klein. Would love to see her return to these high end, yet youthful, gowns again! Sidenote: the backwards necklace is becoming a great trademark for her.

Kate Hudson
Idol. Perfect. Hollywood royalty. Kate Hudson has been a personal red carpet favorite in recent years, seeing as she never misses a beat. With this white Atelier Versace, Hudson redefined chic. Between the cape and the waist detailing, she epitomized Hollywood glamour on tinseltown's most iconic night. That alone deserves an award.

All About Kate

Where would fashion's inspiration come from if it wasn't for the models! The supermodel phenomena is responsible for a good chunk of Vogue's evolution, designer's collections, and of course jaw dropping ad campaigns. One of those frequently seen models, Kate Moss, has particularly influenced fashion in her own way. Before Gisele lead the Brazilian model craze by storm and Karlie Kloss dominated Vogue editorials, Kate was everyone's fashion muse. While she's had her fair of controversies from her rockstar romances to her not so star worthy scandals, Kate has proven why she has and always will be fashion's greatest trend. After more than twenty years of modeling, Kate's smoldering high cheek bones are still gracing many billboards and magazines. Here's a look at some of Kate's various model moments:

Red Carpet Report: Teen Choice Awards 2012

The Teen Choice Awards are always a fabulous refreshment during the summertime(aka the season of no award shows). The fun spirited show offers the chance to bang out the most youthful and summer themed outfits! Here's a look at some stars who got it right and others who were almost there...

Best

Lea Michele looked adorable in Versace head to toe! The mini dress was anything but simple with the curvy shape at the waist and chest. The details of the dress are reminiscent of a classic spring/summer wedding dress design but with a little more freedom! Lea looks like she's channeling a fun and single Sex and the City character ready to conquer the summer Hamptons.

Zoe Saldana, queen of taking chances with fashion. I really love seeing actresses sport the crop top with high waist skirt outfit, however I think it typically looks better in motion than photographs because of the outfit's fullness. Still, Zoe looked great with this unique green colored ensemble. The blue Louboutins were also a nice touch to dazzle up the outfit!

Victoria Justice continued the night's trend of wearing new summer styles with her mullet dress! I love this look of having the dress short in the front yet long in the back, and the young starlet totally pulled it off. Adding the cheetah print and belt, Victoria looked perfect for the occasion!

Coulda,  Woulda , Shoulda

And now for those who were so close, yet a little too far away...

Oh Ashley Benson, what happened! One, if you're going to wear black during the summer you better make it sleek due to the lack of color. And two, girl those pants! I'm totally all for a nice corset but the loose fit of the pants are not flattering on Ashley's small frame. A tighter bottom, peplum skirt, or even better matched belt would've saved this outfit!

There's technically nothing offensive about this outfit, but it is too bland for the fun event. If someone else wore this, I would say it looks cute...but it feels like Taylor Swift has worn this type of dress many times before. I like the side cutouts and beige shoes but she could've definitely stepped things up. Taylor has been on the cover of Vogue and should have fun with having that on her fashion resume! Switch it up with at least some bold colors TSwift!

Award Season: 2012 Golden Globes!

Tis the season to wear Marchesa! The Golden Globes were a typical award season type of night. Meryl Streep won Best Actress, every Harvey Weinstein movie picked up an award, and fabulous dresses graced the red carpet. There were many gorgeous dresses from A-listers and newcomers! Here are the best looks of the night:

Does Kate Beckinsale ever not look drop dead gorgeous? I love how she had the classic award look going on with her Roberto Cavalli dress. Dripping in diamonds and a timeless dress. So flawless!

I have to give major credit to Sarah Hyland! For an actress who's just starting out, she really knows how to dress when it comes to these big events. The Modern Family star always looks well put together but I was taken back when she came out in this vintage Dolce & Gabbana dress. The lace texture was beautiful! Even though the majority of women wore nude and pale styles, Sarah's look was refreshingly diverse!

She's back! After a few not so fabulous award show dresses, Nicole Kidman made a major comeback in this Versace number! The detailing on this gown was stunning. I love that it was a sleek look but was still daring. Last night, Nicole reminded everyone why we always adored seeing her on the red carpet!

Best Dressed: Tie between Angelina Jolie AND Nicole Richie
I've always been totally 100% Team Aniston, but I kind of fell into the Angelina Jolie stanning group last night. Don't get wrong, I think she's an amazing actress but her personal life always tainted her a little for me. However, the Globes changed that. This is the best Angie(yes I'm even using the nickname)has ever looked! For years she's had major A-list status, but last night Angelina truly looked like a legendary movie star. From the Atelier Versace to her humble interviews, Angelina completely won me over. But Pitt still has a long way to go....sorry you can't just leave Rachel Green and expect everyone to accept that!

I couldn't choose between Nicole Richie and Angelina Jolie for Best Dressed because they both wore such different looks! Angelina was a classic beauty and Nicole had a more modern appearance. The retro hair and jewels were the perfect match for this Julien Macdonald dress!  The fashionista stayed true to her bohemian roots while also looking appropriate and classy for the event. And just check out the back of the dress! I'm totally against when girls wear plain dresses in the front and rely on the low drop of the back of the dress to jazz up the look. Nicole did exactly the opposite! The front of her gown was gorgeous but simple enough that the back of the dress could still be fun.

Overall, the Golden Globes were a stylish night! Can't wait to see more from these ladies at the SAG awards, Spirit Awards, and of course...the Oscars!
