Fashion Review: 2011 Emmy's

Modern Family might have swept the majority of awards Sunday night but it was a battle for the ultimate prize on the red carpet. Different actresses wowed audiences with their stunning gowns. Here's a look at the best looks of the night...

Nina Dobrev looked red hot! The Vampire Diaries actress was easily the best dressed of the night. This Donna Karan dress had a beautiful structure. I adore Nina, but was not expecting her to steal the show! She's never been well known for her fashion status but hopefully that's all about to change. Between this and her Emmy's dress from last year, Nina is making her mark in the fashion world!

This is what happens when your date is a fabulous movie star. Emily Blunt supported her hubby John Krasinski and brought some fun to the Emmy's! The abstract Ellie Saab dress is the perfect transition from summer to fall. I think Miranda Priestly would approve of this gorgeous pattern!

Julie Bowen was full of surprises on Sunday night! Not only did she win her first Emmy, but she also wore a sleek dress while doing so. Who says comedic actresses can't dress well? Julie took a fun twist on on a basic color.

I love Lea Michele and Marchesa so much! This collaboration was stunning, however, I wasn't overwhelmed by it. Lea looked fab but she's had more extravagant looks in the past. I do have to give credit to Lea for wearing a toned down look for a change. Whether it's Oscar de la Renta or Marchesa, she knows how to work those big labels!

Does Sofia Vergara ever not look incredible? Gorgeous combination of the bright jewelry with her Vera Wang gown.

I feel like Martha Plimpton isn't getting enough credit for this dress! I love the classic style and winter color. Very classy and old Hollywood! (Also, bonus points for being part of this hilarious setup)

Hope everyone had a great start to award season! So much more red carpet action is just around the corner.

Marilyn, Grace, Marlene, Charlize - The Gang's All Here!

It's official - Dior is the epitome of flawlessness! Since I've started this blog, I've made quite a few posts about Dior's fabulous marketing. I said it before and I'll say it again, everything about their advertising techniques is pure perfection. I'm majoring in Advertising so I really love it when something like a commercial can quickly capture my attention. The new Dior ad with Charlize Theron does just that. Once again, spokeswoman Charlize looks like a stunning, fierce supermodel. However, it's not only Ms. Theron's beauty that makes the commercial, but the tiny details. In this commercial, Dior shows footage of legendary icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, and Marlene Dietrich. Over the years, different women from each generation have been affected by these women. At one point or another, we've all admired their talent, glamour, and elegance. Check out below how Dior continues to inspire women with their latest upbeat film...

It's the Fall, It's the Fall, It's the Fall!

Get your Hunter boots ready ladies! Summer is over and it's time to revamp those wardrobes for the new fall fashion. Before you start your annual September shopping trip, here are some trends to keep in mind...

1. Lace
This might be the biggest, but trickiest, new trend of the season. Lace is fun but can go wrong very easily. Be subtle when wearing this pattern. Think Emma Stone at the MTV Movie Awards, NOT Scarlett Johansson at the Oscars

2.Velvet
Keep warm this winter by staying comfortable and stylish. The dark colors usually look better in a velvet fabric, instead of bright colors. Nicole Richie and Vanessa Hudgens have both sported sleek, navy velvet dresses.

3. Pop of Color
This trend is the perfect way to avoid having a basic wardrobe. Obviously it would be ridiculous to waste money on a bright colored cardigan that doesn't match a variety of items. Instead, buy a cream colored cardigan that can match a pink, blue, and purple top. Don't get a crazy colored sweater that can only be worn a few times. Get the black sweater and get a vibrant scarf to liven up the look. Invest more money on the different scarves that way you can mix and match.

4. Bold Prints
Fall is the perfect time to break out that cheetah print shirt. Try new things! Stripes, plaid...they all work well when paired with a solid print. An abstract top can still appear tame when worn with black pants.

"It's a new era in fashion - there are no rules. It's all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together."
-Alexander McQueen
