Fashion Friday: Designer of the Moment

So the "of the moment" part is kind of untrue seeing as I've been obsessing over Elie Saab for quite some time now. The designer's sheer fabrics and stunning beading always make for top runway or red carpet moments. I love how despite it's diversity, it's never hard to identify a dress as a product of Elie Saab. The brand has beautiful trademark designs, without being predictable. Some of my favorite red carpet moments for this designer have included Rachel McAdams's 2010 Oscar gown and Mila Kunis' 2011 Oscar gown. However, Elie Saab is forever growing with each new collection. Instead of trying to narrow down the designer's best looks to only a few, here's the latest Elie Saab look that I'm just absolutely loving!

Year In Review, Part 2

Designers may be the masterminds behind trends, but it's the girls who wear these outfits, that bring most of the attention to popular styles. In 2012, the E! red carpet specials will introduce us to new upcoming actresses, models, or wannabe socialites but let's not forget who truly made an impact this year. Here's a fashion spotlight on the fabulous fashionistas of 2011. No matter what happens in 2012, just remember girls...we'll always have award season!

4.
Zoe Saldana
One big issues with the combination of Hollywood and fashion is that actresses aren't models. This raises the debates on whether they should even be on the cover of Vogue and why these starlets are pressured to stay perfectly thin. These women are only playing characters on screen yet when promotion or award time comes around, they are expected to present a flawless persona. Zoe Saldana is one actress who is not afraid to step up to this challenge. While some ladies are just looking to get by on the red carpet without being torn apart, Zoe takes chances. Ms Saldana wears the high fashion looks and shows what it means to actually be a fashion risk taker.

3.
Rachel McAdams
So she wasn't everywhere this year, but she was easily the trendiest film festival darling. Let's be honest, Rachel McAdams' wardrobe was the highlight of Cannes. Between her platinum blonde hair and classic styles, Rachel was just as beautiful as the scenery shots in Midnight in Paris. After that Marchesa dress from her recent premiere, here's to hoping for more McAdams in 2012.

2.
         Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
I'm not always a fan of these "model turned actress" stints but Rosie's style is the only reason I was able to tolerate the Transformer movies this year. Was anyone really paying attention during promotion to anything else except for Rosie's outfits? I never saw the film so I can't exactly comment on her as an actress, but I can say that Rosie was one of the most stylish fashionistas of 2011!

1.
Mila Kunis
The ultimate fashionista of the year! Natalie Portman might have won the Oscar and gotten pregnant, but it really was Mila's year. The former "That 70's Show" star caught everyone's eyes this past award season. Mila wowed in A-Lister looks like Elie Saab, Alexander McQueen, and Vera Wang. There was never a dull moment when Mila was walking the red carpet in 2011!

Designer of the Moment: Marchesa

Marchesa is one of my all time favorite designers. The brand was established back in 2004 by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. Since then, it has rapidly grown. Now it's pretty much given that at least one celebrity will wear a Marchesa gown during award season. And why wouldn't they? The designs, textures, and fabrics of the dresses are breathtaking. Marchesa has even taken the wedding department by storm. You know a brand has to be pretty special when brides choose it over the typical Vera Wang or Alexander McQueen dress. In honor of the flawless fashion label, here's a look at some of my favorite Marchesa dresses.

Vanessa Hudgens

Halle Berry

Kate Beckinsale

Rachel McAdams

Sandra Bullock

Eva Longoria

Movie Review: Midnight In Paris

Midnight In Paris is an extravagant film that emphasizes on the importance of passion and creativity. Woody Allen's latest film takes audiences on a magical journey in the city of love. The plot centers around a struggling writer (Owen Wilson) who explores the differences of reality and fantasy. When Wilson roams the streets of Paris at night, he enters a whimsical world.  I don't want to reveal too much about the movie, because it really is better to experience for yourself. Instead, I'll just rave about some of the highlights.

Paris is the real main character in this film. Allen does a great job capturing the city's beauty. After leaving the movie theater, I felt like I was leaving a vacation. There was no better setting for this storyline. The scenery was breathtaking.

The film had a diverse supporting cast. All of the actors were truly scene stealers. Rachel McAdams was surprisingly cruel as Wilson's narrow minded fiance. Meanwhile, Marion Cotillard played a more delightful character, as the charming muse. The movie reminded me why Marion is one of my favorite actresses. Her performances always leave such long-lasting impacts.

I would definitely recommend the film. Midnight In Paris is thought provoking, but light hearted. It's hard not to smile while watching the film. The movie was romantic, comical, and very enjoyable. For only $11.50 you get to travel through Paris, meet literary icons, and let your imagination run wild.

"If you're not failing every now and again, it's a sign you're not doing anything very innovative."
